Our Mission Statement

A spirit with a vision is a dream with a mission .... (1)

As the premier writer on death and dying, Elisabeth Kübler-Ross states:

".. as if I were watching a movie of the old days I see the settlers coming .. their dreams of the "Great West," where they would raise a family. I see their wagons struggling through towards the West; I see their women sitting bent, hot, and tired. I see these women getting pregnant and dreading the journey; I hear the cry of a newborn baby, and see the pride and sweat on the father's face as he views his firstborn child. I see them dig a grave somewhere on the path to the West, and I see the young couple struggling on to survive, to start anew again and again and again. Nothing much has changed in the last few thousand years, I think. Human beings have always struggled, hoped, waited, dreamed, made it, lost it, and started again." (2)

And it was this way for us. No we do not pretend to have as hard of a life as the settlers of the Great West but we have learned in a very harsh way that no matter what we think we have in this life in terms of comforts and technology we are as naked and bereft as the settlers. For this subject there is no happy ending, no righting the wrongs of fate and certainly no recompense. Spenser is the greatest gift that we have ever had the pleasure of beholding and just as quick as he was here he was gone.

On this website we want to celebrate Spenser's life by sharing everything about him. We do not believe that our loss was necessary or part of any great plan. However, we want to make others aware of the plight of children like Spenser in this country. He is one of millions of children who need help and the consideration of our society. No matter your political philosophy you cannot deny that a proud society takes care of it's children in every way. After our experiences with Spenser we can say it is not the case in this society at this time. However, we hope to see the day where the rights of born children are held in as high esteem as any special interest group that there is.
